Constructed Textile

Constructed Textile

The planning and processing work of constructing textile is a favourite of mine. This long meditative process starts with designing my fabric, sketching the pattern, calculating the amount of yardage for warp and weft, choosing my material whether it's silk, linen, wool or etc. And then prepare my warp and dress my loom if I'm weaving or prepare to get wet if the project is a felt piece.
And as I prefer to dye my yarn, collecting local natural dyes takes me to the beautiful outdoors in search of plant dyes. I gather sumac, golden rods, walnut and peacan shells and skin and many other plant parts for my dying projects. There are many technical steps in the process of making a fabric from measuring warp, weft & the loom waste, to amount of dye material for limited waste and pollution and much more.
Each constrction technique has unique features and produces beautiful results. Below are some samples of my work. For more information  contact me here.
